Anthony West
Team Stiggy

Anthony West born in Maryborough, Australia, on the 17th July 1981.

1998 He debuts as a wild card in the 125 cc in the World Championship, at the Australian GP on Honda
1999 His official debut in the World Championship with a Honda TSR, with whom he scores 66 points
2000 He rides on a Honda in the Shell Advance official team, together with Tohru Ukawa, (vice World Champion in 1999 beaten by Valentino Rossi.) Finishes the season in sixth place in the 250 cc class with 146 points, and beating experienced riders in the class, like Ralf Waldmann, Sebastian Porto and Franco Battaini. A positive start to a new team
2001 He moves to the 500 cc class with a Honda 2 cylinder; the season is very bad as the machine is under developed and lacked power compared to the Factory 4 cylinder machines
2002 He is back in the 250cc World Championship
2003 He rides an Aprilia with the Abruzzo team. This bike is not the fastest, but it allows him to show himself more times, one in the rain at Assen, where the Australian hits his first success. The season continues with another three podiums and finishes seventh place in the Championship with 145 points, but on failing the seasonal target which was to be the top privateer (non factory backed rider), this accolade went to Franco Battaini
2004 He scores 88 points with the Aprilia, and he also rides in the Supersport race at Brands Hatch and places 10th
2005 He rides 7 races, 2 with Aprilia and 5 with KTM, and gives the Austrian bike it’s first podium in it’s history (the first race for the Mattighofen house in 250cc) thanks to the second place at Donington, in the UK
2006 After leaving KTM, he rides full time with an Aprilia in 250 cc (semi factory)in the Kiefer Bos Racing team, and scores a total of 78 points throughout the season
2007 in 250cc he starts with Aprilia, on getting 25 points, he also rides part time in the Supersport Championship replacing Kevin Curtain, starting at the Monza round of the World Superport championship, on getting with the 4 cylinder 600 Yamaha YZF-R6, in three races he scores one third place (Monza), and two victories one at Silverstone (in the rain, under these circumstances the Australian is showing he is a rain specialist) and in Misano, in the sun.
Starting at the Donington round of the Moto GP World Championship, Anthony replaces Olivier Jaques riding for the official Kawasaki team
2008 He rides with the official Kawasaki team again in Moto GP
2009 He enters the Stiggy team and races in the World Supersport Championship
