Manuel Poggiali born in San Marino on the 14th February 1983. Manuel Poggiali falls into bike racing by chance, in 1993 his aunt and uncle take him to see a minibike race in Rimini. After this experience he decides to join the minibike Italian Championship.
1994 He participates in his first National Championship, at the end of the season he finishes in second place 1995 He wins his first race, in Civitanova Marche and finishes fifth in the series standings and eleventh place the year after 1997 Last year on the minibikes 1998 He wins, with the Massimo Mattoni team, the Honda Trophy and the 125 cc Italian Championship and two races in the European Championship. The same year he debuts in the 125 cc class World Championship, at the Imola GP 1999 First complete season in the World Championship together with Aprilia, he finishes 17th in the final standings 2000 Together with Derbi he gets the first podium of his career and finishes the series in 16th position 2001 With Gilera he wins three GP’s (France, Portugal and Valencia) and scores eleven podiums finishes bringing him the 125cc World Championship 2002 Again in the 125 cc class he changes his number from 54 to number 1. He wins 4 races in Italy, South Africa, Catalunia and Australia and places 2nd position in the Final standings behind Arnaud Vincent 2003 He goes to the 250 cc class and wins with Aprilia the 250cc World Championship. Poggiali is the third youngest rider that has won the 250 cc title after Marco Melandri and Valentino Rossi 2004 He placed 9th in the final classification in the 250 cc Word Championship 2005 He leaves the Aprilia and goes back to 125 cc class with Gilera. He finishes the Championship in 10th position without getting on the podium 2006 He goes back to the 250 cc class with KTM 2007 He decides to take a "sabbatical year" on waiting new developments 2008 He goes to ride the Gilera with Campetella Racing team. He places sixth at the Le Mans GP, but during this growing period, a chain of accidents and technical troubles make him decide to retire
